The Hermit
Thoth Tarot
He who has no name, for it is needed only to be called upon by others. He who has no ego for it is what you present to the public. He who knows no words for sun and wind speak to you without them. He who saw the light casting shadows long and short all around. He who understands that serpents are a vilified bunch. He who felt all the angles of creation only to conclude that it has no shape. He who was guided by Virgo through the abyss, will you make it back? Will you make it back to teach the others? Will you sacrifice your peace to show the path? Will you learn anew, that which you have long forgotten? Will you have the patience to persist? For if one have seen the true beauty of the world, isn't it a sin to keep it to oneself?
Commentary: I’ve had a Thoth Tarot deck for a few month now and I’ve been shuffling through it from time to time pondering upon the imagery presented. And on one such occasion today I was suddenly inspired to write something. I was thinking about how there’s an ever-increasing sentiment to sort of go live in the “hut in the woods” type of stuff, basically abandoning humanity and being a recluse, a hermit. And while yes, I think it an excellent way to attain inner peace, it is also selfish in a way, because instead of trying to fight the system you so despise, you just escape it, you just refuse to play the game and I know the game is fucking bullshit right now but still, and remember the matrix was changed from within not without, so you cant change the game without playing the game. Anyway, my point is that there should be a “hermit phase” in the human lives but only to come back as a person capable of facing the troubles of human society and be willing to persist to change it.

I’ve been looking at my tarot box on my book shrlf lately, thinking about laying them out.
Love the line “the matrix was changed from within not without.”
